Description: This data represents park locations in New Jersey reselected from the 2016 Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) which is the Federal and national standard for geographic nomenclature.
Description: This data set contains over 1,000 miles of official recreational trails on lands owned and managed by New Jersey State Park Service (NJSPS). Data collection was a cooperative effort between New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) employees, local volunteers, and non-profit agencies resulting in varying degrees of spatial accuracy and detail. Due to the varied mapping sources this data is not intended for orienteering purposes.
Description: This data set contains protected open space and recreation areas owned in fee simple interest by the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). Types of property in this data layer include parcels such as parks, forests, historic sites, natural areas and wildlife management areas. The data was derived from a variety of source maps including tax maps, surveys and even hand-drafted boundary lines on USGS topographic maps. These source materials vary in scale and level of accuracy. Due to the varied mapped sources and methods of data capture, this data set is limited in its ability to portray all open space lands accurately, particularly the parcels purchased prior to 1991.
Description: This dataset contains point of interest features on lands owned and managed by New Jersey State Park Service (NJSPS). Points range from park offices, picnic areas, campgrounds, restrooms and more, which may relate to trails, services, buildings, places of interest, waterbodies, camping, and picnicking. Data collection was a cooperative effort between New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) employees, local volunteers, and non-profit agencies resulting in varying degrees of spatial accuracy and detail.

Description: This data set contains wetland mitigation bank sites as points throughout the State of New Jersey and their associated service areas. Wetland mitigation banks are mitigation projects constructed in advance of wetland impacts by a bank operator for the purpose of providing compensatory mitigation for disturbances to freshwater and coastal wetlands authorized by land use permits. A service area is the area in which a mitigation bank can sell its credits and is usually delineated by a watershed management area(s) or portions thereof.

Description: This data set contains wetland mitigation data graphically presented by mitigation site centroids and corresponding mitigation block and lot information throughout the state of New Jersey. Wetland mitigation sites are projects involving wetland creation, wetland enhancement and/or wetland preservation created for the purpose of providing compensatory mitigation for disturbances to freshwater and coastal wetlands authorized by land use permits. Associated with each location is information on the amount of wetland mitigation required, proposed, completed, the wetland type(s) occurring in the mitigation site and the method used to create the mitigation site.

Description: In New Jersey, the Legislature decided to incorporate the EPA Priority Wetland List into the Freshwater Wetlands Protection Act and Rules to ensure that the State program complied and is consistent with the federal program. As a result, the New Jersey Freshwater Wetlands Act prohibited the use of certain general permits within areas on this list. Wetlands are identified as EPA priority based on the following factors: 1. Unique habitat for fauna of flora; 2. Unusual or regionally rare wetland types; 3. Ecologically important and under threat of development; 4. Important to surface water systems; 5. critical to protect water supplies; and 6. Valuable for and provide flood "storage capacity. All priority areas are listed by specific geographic area. Specific geographic areas include particular wetland areas with a defined geographic boundary (e.g., Great Piece Meadows) or a particular wetland system with defined boundaries (e.g., wetlands of the Passaic River Basin). Note on dates: Original 1989; Updated 03/1994; Digitized 01/01/2014 to 06/01/2014
